Why I just tripled the Billboard minimum
Hey,
Two things shipped today.
The homepage looks different
Every directory has the same problem: paid placements look identical to free ones. You pay to be featured, then blend into a list of 200 other tools.
So I rebuilt it. The top 3 tools of the month now sit at the top with gradient cards that actually stand out on the page. Premium listings get the sidebar on every tool page, not just the homepage.
If you're paying for placement, the placement should look like placement.
The Billboard minimum is now $15
It was $5. Here's the honest reasoning.
When I set that price, LaunchIt was DR 26 and barely getting traffic. $5 for a homepage spot was roughly fair.
Today it's DR 47, 80+ products launched this month, and traffic climbing every week. A permanent homepage spot on a domain like that for the price of a coffee stopped making sense.
The people who got in at $5 keep their spot at that price. Permanently. That's the whole point of a permanent listing.
What this means if you're on the fence
The pattern here is simple: the site keeps growing, so the price keeps going up. Every founder who launched in August got a DR 26 link that's now worth DR 47. They paid less and got more.
That's not a sales tactic, it's just what happens when a domain is climbing. Earlier is always better.
