Uneed Alternatives: Launch Platforms Compared on Wait, Price and Links (2026)
Uneed's free line now runs 30 days to 5 months. The alternatives compared on queue time, price, DR and link policy, checked on each platform's own pages.
On this page
Checked on 17 September 2026. Every price, wait time and rule below comes from the platform's own pricing, FAQ, help or changelog pages. The Domain Rating figures are live Ahrefs numbers pulled the same day. Where a platform does not publish something, we say "not published" instead of guessing.
Uneed is one of the better places to launch a small product: a daily leaderboard, an audience of founders and indie hackers, and an owner who keeps shipping changes. Founders rarely look for Uneed alternatives because Uneed is bad. They look because the free waiting line is long, because the rules for free launches changed twice in the last month, or because one launch on one platform was never going to be enough anyway.
Disclosure before the list: LaunchIt is our launch platform, so read our own entry with the suspicion it deserves. We also run a directory submission service, and Uneed is one of the paid directories included in our packages, so we read its rules more often than most people do.
What changed at Uneed in 2026
If your picture of Uneed is older than September 2026, it is out of date. Two entries in Uneed's changelog tell the story:
- 17 August 2026: the free waiting line closed to new products, because the queue had passed six months and was still growing.
- 11 September 2026: the free line came back with new rules.
The rules today, from Uneed's pricing and FAQ pages:
- Free launch: Uneed assigns your date automatically, between 30 days and 5 months out. At least 30 free launches go live each day, up to 60 when the line is long.
- The launch-day bar: a free launch needs an upvote score of 10 on the day to stay published, and a score of 20 to keep a followed link. Under 10, the product goes back to your dashboard and cannot rejoin the free line: only the paid options remain.
- Fast-track, $14.99: a slot in about 14 days. The link stays followed from a score of 10.
- Skip the line, $29.99: you choose the date, and the followed link is permanent whatever the score.
- Relaunch, $15.
Two details are easy to miss. The score is weighted, not a raw count: votes from Uneed Pro members count for more. And free submissions are moderated and can be declined, while paid launches never are.
Should you leave Uneed at all?
Usually not. The useful question is what to launch on as well as Uneed, and what to do during the wait. Uneed reports around 90,000 monthly visitors and a newsletter of 26,000, its Domain Rating is 76, and $14.99 for a slot two weeks out is fair value. It stops being the right first move in three situations:
- You need to launch this month and you do not want to pay. The free date is at least 30 days away.
- You have no audience yet. A free launch that misses a score of 10 is unpublished and locked out of the free line, so launching cold carries a real cost.
- Your buyers are not founders and indie hackers. Uneed's crowd is makers looking at other makers' products.

Domain Rating measures the strength of the whole site, not of your listing page, and a listing on a DR 91 site is not worth twice a listing on a DR 46 one. Use the column to spot outliers, not to rank the list. Our Domain Rating guide explains what the number does and does not tell you.
1. LaunchIt
Ours, so grade accordingly. LaunchIt is smaller than everything else on this page, and its Domain Rating of 46 is the lowest in the table. What it offers instead is predictability: there is no launch-day bar to clear, a listing is a permanent page that stays in categories and search after the day is over, and the link to your site is followed on every listing, free or paid.
A free launch waits in a review queue and needs our badge on your site first. That is a link exchange, and you should weigh it the same way you weigh TinyLaunch's badge rule below. Premium is $14.99 once: you pick the date, you are on the home page that day, you go out in the newsletter, and no badge is needed.
Best for: a first launch while you wait for your Uneed date, and a listing that does not depend on how many people you can bring on one day.
2. Product Hunt
The closest thing to Uneed in format, at a very different scale. Launching is free, there is no queue, and you can schedule any date up to a month ahead. Launches go live at 12:01 AM Pacific and compete for 24 hours.
The catch is not the price, it is the curation. Product Hunt's own help pages say that not every product can be featured on the home page and that featuring is a team decision, not a pure vote count. Directories, templates, boilerplates, courses, services and waitlisted products are not featured at all. You also get one real shot: the same product, company or root domain has to wait six months and ship a significant update before launching again, and a new design or new pricing does not count.
We went deeper on this in Product Hunt vs LaunchIt, and we keep a separate list of Product Hunt alternatives.
Best for: products with broad appeal and an audience that will show up early on the day. Launch on Uneed first and use it as the rehearsal.
3. Peerlist Launchpad
A weekly rhythm instead of a daily one: the window opens every Monday, the launch runs all week, and for the first two days projects are shown in random order, which takes the edge off the midnight race. Ranking blends upvotes, comments, views and link visits, and only comments with substance count.
There is no launch fee, but there is a gate: you need a verified personal Peerlist profile, and company profiles cannot launch. Workplace verification is free if you have an email on a company domain. Identity verification carries a small one-time fee that Peerlist does not publish. On links, their FAQ is blunt: only the top 5 projects of the week are awarded a backlink.
We compare it with other options in Peerlist Launchpad alternatives.
Best for: developer and design tools. Peerlist says 58% of its users are software engineers.
4. TinyLaunch
Weekly launches that start on Mondays. The free Standard Launch sits in a queue of about four weeks: when we checked, the first free date on their calendar was 19 October, a little over a month out. Premium is $39 per launch, goes live the following Monday, and is shown between third and fourth place whatever the votes say.
Read the link rule before you count on it. On a free launch the link is nofollow unless you finish in the top 3 and embed their badge with a followed link back to TinyLaunch. Premium launches get a followed link without conditions. More in LaunchIt vs TinyLaunch.
Best for: side projects that want a week on a home page instead of a day, and do not mind a month of queue.
5. MicroLaunch
Monthly cohorts with a 30-day campaign, built for micro-SaaS. September's cohort had 123 products when we looked. By MicroLaunch's own FAQ, the free Regular Launch means a queue of two to three months or more, unverified status and nofollow links. The Pro Launch lists at $49, is capped at 40 spots a month, skips the queue and comes with followed links.
Part of the format is public critique: products get "roasted or boosted", which is useful if you want feedback and uncomfortable if you only want a listing. Full breakdown in MicroLaunch alternatives.
Best for: micro-SaaS founders who want a month of exposure and honest feedback, and are not in a hurry.
6. Fazier
The nearest like-for-like: a daily launch at midnight Pacific, daily and monthly leaderboards, and a Domain Rating of 83, the highest of the indie platforms here. June 2026's leaderboard listed 375 launches, so expect around a dozen competitors a day.
The free tier asks for a link to Fazier on your home page or footer, promises review and listing within 30 days, and features you on the home page only "if selected". Lite is $29 to publish now or on a date you choose, with no link back required. As on Product Hunt, you cannot relaunch for six months, and then only with a considerably improved product.
Best for: a second daily-leaderboard launch with a much shorter free wait than Uneed's.
7. StartupBase
Running since 2017 and now a daily launch platform: new launches at midnight Pacific, with daily, weekly, monthly and yearly rankings. The free queue is about 4 to 5 weeks if you add their badge to your site and 10 weeks or more if you do not. $39 skips the queue and lets you pick a date within 30 days. One line from their own FAQ is worth repeating because few platforms say it: paying buys clearly labelled slots, not a place in the organic order.
Best for: founders who want a free launch within about a month and are fine with a badge.
8. DevHunt, for developer tools
Developer tools only, in weekly cohorts, with voting behind a GitHub or Google login to keep bots out. A launch is free when the week you pick has fewer than 15 tools. Once a week is fuller than that, taking a slot in it costs $49. When we checked, all five upcoming weeks on the calendar were already past 15, so assume either a wait of more than a month or the fee.
Best for: APIs, SDKs, libraries and other tools whose users are developers. Do not submit anything else.
9. The $12 to $20 tier: LaunchIgniter, Open Launch, Scroll Launch, Firsto
Four smaller platforms where a guaranteed date costs less than Uneed's Skip the line. Their audiences are smaller too, so treat them as extra launches, not replacements.
- LaunchIgniter: weekly cohorts that start on Monday at 00:00 UTC and stay on the home page for seven days. Free launches need their badge, are reviewed by hand and come with no guaranteed date. $12 buys a guaranteed date with no badge. One launch per product.
- Open Launch: daily launches at 8:00 UTC, open source, run by one maker. The free tier is closed for practical purposes: the site says free slots are booked into 2027. Premium is $12 and can go live the next day, with 10 premium slots a day.
- Scroll Launch: weekly, ranked by upvotes, with 20 free slots per week. Premium is $19 per product and includes a mention in that week's newsletter.
- Firsto: daily, with 5 free and 10 premium launches a day. The free queue is about 180 days by their own pricing page. Premium is $19.90 and launches within 24 hours.
Best for: filling the weeks between bigger launches without spending much.
A note on BetaList
BetaList still shows up in every list like this one as the free pre-launch option. It is not free any more. Its support page says all submissions are paid and that the free option is gone. Prices appear only at the end of the logged-in submission form, plans differ by how fast you are featured, and you are refunded in full if the editors do not select you. It remains a good fit for a product with a waitlist, and we compared its neighbours in BetaList alternatives.
How to use this list
The move most founders miss: join Uneed's free line today, then launch elsewhere while you wait. The date is one to five months out whatever you do, so the wait costs nothing if you start it now. A sequence that works:
- This week: submit to Uneed's free line and note the date you are given. Launch on LaunchIt so you have a live, indexable listing and a first round of feedback.
- Weeks 2 to 4: one weekly platform (Peerlist if your users are developers or designers, TinyLaunch otherwise). Join MicroLaunch's queue if a month-long campaign suits you.
- Before your Uneed date: build the list of people you will tell on the day. You need a score of 10 to stay published and 20 to keep the followed link, and you only get one try on the free line.
- After Uneed: Product Hunt, once the copy, the onboarding and the launch-day routine have all been tested somewhere smaller.
The full map, with every platform we track, is in where to launch your startup in 2026. Before any of these, run the launch checklist, because a broken signup flow wastes a launch day on any platform.
Frequently asked questions
Is Uneed free?
Yes, with conditions. The free line assigns you a launch date between 30 days and 5 months out, the submission is moderated, and on launch day you need an upvote score of 10 to stay published. Fast-track ($14.99) and Skip the line ($29.99) are the paid ways in.
How long is Uneed's waiting line?
Between 30 days and 5 months for a free launch, according to Uneed's FAQ in September 2026. Uneed raises the number of free launches per day (from 30 up to 60) so the wait does not go past 5 months. Fast-track gets you a slot in about 14 days.
Does Uneed give a dofollow backlink?
It depends on how you launch. Skip the line and Relaunch keep a followed link permanently. Fast-track keeps it from an upvote score of 10 on launch day, and a free launch from a score of 20. Below that, Uneed switches the link to nofollow. Our dofollow vs nofollow explainer shows how to check any listing yourself.
What is the best free alternative to Uneed?
For speed, Product Hunt: free, no queue, any date within a month, but homepage featuring is not guaranteed. For a listing that stays useful without a launch-day target, LaunchIt. For developer tools, Peerlist Launchpad, if you can verify your profile.
Can I launch on Uneed and its alternatives at the same time?
Yes, and you should. None of these platforms asks for exclusivity. Spread launches over a few weeks instead of one day: each one teaches you something about your pitch, and you can only ask your audience to show up so many times in a week. If you would rather hand the long tail to someone else, our submission service lists you on 30 to 100 directories and sends a report with every live link.
