Overview
makesPDF turns Markdown or a compact template DSL into a finished PDF in about a second. No headless browser, no LaTeX, no layout code.
Send a Markdown document, get back something properly typeset: GFM tables, syntax-highlighted code, Mermaid diagrams drawn as real vector graphics, footnotes, callouts and images. Need something branded and data-driven instead?
Write a template once in the builder DSL, then render it with different data on every call. Invoices, receipts, quotes, reports, certificates.
Every PDF is PDF/A-2A archival and PDF/UA-1 accessible by default, with a real tagged structure tree, alt text and an embedded sRGB profile. Not a premium add-on, not a checkbox you have to remember. It is simply what comes out. With ADA Title II and the European Accessibility Act now in force, most PDF pipelines quietly fail an audit. This one does not.
The speed comes from not launching a browser. Rendering is pure computation at the edge, so cold and warm requests both land at about a second end to end. There is no multi-second Chrome startup cliff hiding in your p99.
Built for agents as much as for people. There is a hand-tuned skill file, a hosted MCP server, a CLI, and VS Code and Obsidian plugins, so an AI agent can author a template, validate it, preview it for free and render the final document without you writing any glue code.
Self-serve from the first minute. Sign up, grab an API key, POST some Markdown. The free tier is 10 credits a month, about 100 pages, watermarked. Paid plans start at $10 a year.
