Overview
STRICH is a JavaScript SDK for real-time 1D and 2D barcode scanning in web apps, using the camera of smartphones and tablets. All decoding runs on-device in the browser: no backend or native app required. Barcode data never leaves the device.
Supports Code 128, EAN, UPC, Code 39, ITF, DataBar, QR Code, Data Matrix, Aztec, PDF417 (incl. US driver’s licenses) and more. Reads damaged, faded, inverted and poorly lit codes where open-source libraries struggle.
Add scanning with one line of code using the PopupScanner, or embed the BarcodeReader for full control. Zero dependencies, TypeScript definitions, sample code for Vanilla JS, React, Angular, Vue and Svelte. Works in all major browsers on Android and iOS.
Transparent pricing from €99/month with unlimited devices, or flat annual licenses with unlimited scans. Offline operation available. Free 14-day trial. Made in Switzerland by a GS1 Solution Partner.

STRICH Barcode Scanning SDK in a Nutshell
Who is it for?
Web developers and product teams building real-time barcode scanning features in browser-based apps
Problem
Developers struggle with reliable in-browser barcode scanning that works offline and respects user privacy. Many solutions rely on backend processing or native apps, leading to latency, integration complexity, or data exposure when scanning in the browser.
Solution
STRICH provides a JavaScript SDK that runs entirely in the browser, decoding 1D and 2D barcodes on-device with no backend or native app. It offers easy integration with a one-line PopupScanner or full control via BarcodeReader, plus offline operation and zero dependencies.
What makes it unique
All decoding happens in the client, so barcode data never leaves the device. It supports a wide range of symbologies and handles damaged or poorly lit codes better than many open-source options. It ships with TypeScript definitions and framework-agnostic samples for Vanilla JS, React, Angular, Vue, and Svelte, plus flexible licensing and Switzerland-based support.
