Overview
Vigilance compares the software you run with the update about to replace it. It shows only the files that gained a new capability, like reaching the internet, reading your keys, or downloading and running files.
A poisoned update looks normal when your upstream vendor is compromised. Updates change hundreds of files, and most tools either miss the attack or bury you in warnings and alerts. Vigilance stays quiet on a normal update and flags the one file that gains new capabilities.
- One file. No agent. Mac, Linux, Windows and the BSDs.
- Catches attacks that have no CVE yet.
- Reads inside deb, rpm, npm, pip, containers, MSI and ISO.
- Doesn't block a program. Never sends your code anywhere.

Vigilance in a Nutshell
Who is it for?
Developers, security teams, and IT operations who manage software supply chains across diverse environments.
Problem
Many security tools produce excessive alerts during updates, making it hard to spot true compromises. Traditional solutions miss attacks that appear like normal updates or overwhelm you with noise from hundreds of changed files.
Solution
Vigilance analyzes outgoing updates against the software in use and highlights only the single file that gains new capability, helping you detect tampered updates without disruption. It reads inside common package formats and containers to surface real threats while remaining quiet on legitimate updates.
What makes it unique
It requires no agent, works across Mac, Linux, Windows, and BSDs, and flags only the file that could enable an attack. It can detect threats that lack CVEs and inspects inside multiple package formats without blocking or exfiltrating code.
In practice
Use Cases
Verify updates before deployment
Identify tampered package contents
Reduce alert fatigue for software updates
Monitor multi-OS supply chain changes
Inspect deb, rpm, npm, pip, containers

Behind the product
Meet the Maker
Maker of Vigilance ยท On LaunchIt since 2026
I started in software supply chain security in 2020, at aDolus Technologies, right as SolarWinds broke. For five years I took apart the major supply chain attacks, from 3CX to the XZ backdoor. Security teams drown in warnings and still miss the one change that matters. So I built Vigilance to do one job: tell you when a file in an update can do something it could not do before, and stay quiet the rest of the time. Vigilance is made by Phended, a small Canadian cybersecurity company.

Hi, I'm Marcello, the maker of Vigilance. Every big supply chain attack I studied (SolarWinds, 3CX, Kaseya, NotPetya) arrived as a normal-looking update. Vigilance compares each file in the update with the version you trust and flags only a file that gained a capability. It's free for up to 50 machines and it can run anywhere. Install takes a few minutes: https://vigihq.com Run it on your next update and tell me what it finds, or what it gets wrong.
