Why your product is missing from AI answers

Hey,

Google finally documented how pages get into AI Overviews and AI Mode. The whole thing fits in one sentence, and it is not the sentence the GEO experts have been selling.

THE REQUIREMENT, IN GOOGLE'S WORDS

"To be eligible to be shown as a supporting link in AI Overviews or AI Mode, a page must be indexed and eligible to be shown in Google Search with a snippet."

That is the gate. Google adds: "There are no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode, nor other special optimizations necessary." And: "You don't need to create new machine readable files, AI text files, or markup to appear in these features."

So no llms.txt. No AI-only schema. No rewriting your pages for robots. The guide asks for nothing new. It asks for what Search always asked for: indexed, snippet-eligible, helpful pages.

WHAT THAT MEANS IN PRACTICE

AI answers are assembled from pages Google already indexes. When someone asks "best tools for X", the model leans on the pages that list and compare tools in that category: directories, roundups, comparison posts, review pages. If your product is not on those pages, it is not in the answer.

The work is not "optimize for AI". The work is getting indexed pages about your product onto domains Google already trusts, and making sure your own pages are eligible.

A FIVE-MINUTE CHECK (DO IT TODAY)

1. Search Google for site:yourdomain.com. If your key pages are missing, nothing else matters yet. Fix indexing first in Search Console.
2. View the source of your homepage. No noindex, no nosnippet, no max-snippet:0. Any of those removes you from AI features by definition.
3. Ask Google AI Mode, ChatGPT or Perplexity for the "best [your category] tools" and note which pages get cited. Those are the pages you need to be on.
4. Count the indexed third-party pages that describe your product. If you can count them on one hand, the model has almost nothing to pull from.

WHERE LAUNCHIT FITS

Your LaunchIt listing is one of those third-party pages: a permanent page about your product on a domain (DR 47) that Google crawls daily, because new launches go up every day. It gets indexed, it stays indexed, and it sits next to the category pages an AI reads when someone asks what exists in your space.
